This design is pulled from a painting I was inspired to create lovingly aligning the connectivity between knowledge and identity. The young girl stand upon a stack of books, elevating her physically, and their contents doing the same both emotionally and mentally. She wears purple as a call to the royalty that is far too often erased as a true aspect of Black history. The crown she reaches for is not one of monarchy, but of self-empowerment. Within it holds the limitlessness of her identity. This image embodies an ethos that I truly believe in, that education allows us the ability to expand not only our consciousness but to shift our circumstances.

The great James Baldwin's words resonate deeply with me both as an educator and as a person of the planet. Like watering seeds and singing to them so they grow and flourish we must do the same for our children. In 2023 I began working with the Utu Foundation funding the secondary school fees for students in Kenya. It has been incredible to see the kids grow in confidence as they grow in knowledge.
